The University of the Philippines Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students, Inc. (UP ALCHEMES) brings back Research Fair, its flagship and premiere research event, on February 1-3, 2024, at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Open to high school students nationwide, Research Fair 2024 marks a return to a face-to-face format, reaffirming its commitment to celebrating the knowledge, talents, and potential of Filipino youth in driving scientific and technological breakthroughs for the betterment of the community and the nation.
Now in its 23rd year, Research Fair delves into the captivating world of wildlife with a mission to awaken the ferocious spirit of Filipino students in science and technology, guided by the theme “PERSPICAX: Unleashing the Scientific Prowess of the Filipino Youth.”
Research Fair will return with its three signature sub-events: the Research Competition, the National Science Conquest, and the Youth Science Convention. The Research Competition will showcase high school students' research projects while allowing them to exchange and become exposed to different research perspectives and fields. Participants can also battle it out in a test of knowledge and skills in a quiz-bee-type competition in the National Science Conquest. The Youth Science Convention will feature talks and a workshop by esteemed speakers in the field of science, along with a Case Study Competition highlighting participants' proposed solutions to address the biodiversity depletion in the Philippines.
Research Fair's journey began in 2001 as a one-day event with just ten research entries, steadily gaining recognition and success over the years, eventually expanding into a three-day event. Through Research Fair, the organization was acknowledged as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) in 2016, where it represented excellence in the field of Education and Technology. The organization maintains its advocacy of promoting the potential of Filipino youth to improve the present and set the future.
