For years, the UPLB Chemical Society has been dedicated to promoting enthusiasm and awareness in chemistry. Continuing this mission, the society will host the 17th iteration of Kapnayan 2025, a triennial Nationwide Chemistry Fair, from January 27 to February 1 this year at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. The theme “A Cure’s Formula: Catalyzing Drug Discovery Towards Health Equity Through Medicinal Chemistry” will focus on health inequity and the role of medicinal chemistry in improving human lives.
The week-long fair will be held face-to-face this year and features different activities including seminars, nature and educational trips, and physical exhibits, alongside various contests including the most awaited National Chemistry Quiz, National Extemporaneous Speech, National Photography Contest, National Science Writing Contest, National Poster Making Contest, and the National Research Symposium. This year, 37 secondary schools nationwide will participate in Kapnayan.
Through these activities, the UPLB Chemical Society seeks to empower youth to engage deeply with chemistry, driving the country’s progress and supporting the needs of its people.
