World Vision Project ACE turnover IEC materials to DOLE, express gratitude for the partnership

World Vision Project ACE visited the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to turn over Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials as part of its contribution to the 5th anniversary of Executive Order 92 or the institutionalizing of the National Council Against Child Labor (NCACL) last September 16, 2024. DOLE has been one of WV's major partners in the fight against child labor.

Since the project's beginning, DOLE has supported its events and activities at the local and national levels. Project ACE partnered with the government agency in line with child rights protection and welfare through a memorandum of agreement signed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Over the years, the partnership has led to significant milestones, such as the conduct of two national summits, international information sharing with ASEAN member states, and annual celebrations of World Day against Child Labor.

The IEC materials procured and produced by Project ACE include 37 roll-up banners, 5,000 hand fans, and 3,000 Republic Act 9231 booklets. The agency will use these and distribute them to all DOLE regional offices to further promote a child-labor-free Philippines by 2028.

Project ACE Director Daphne Culanag thanked the DOLE and, in particular, the team of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) that has worked as the Council Secretariat to the National Council Against Child Labor, with whom the project has worked very closely within a number of the activities implemented since 2020. Culanag thanked BWSC Director Satumba and her team for their commitment to working towards a child labor-free Philippines and promised to continue to work with them in the months to come as her appointment as NCACL NGO Sector Representative is effective up to March 2025.

Culanag assured DOLE that the partnership will continue as World Vision ensures that the child labor issue, including online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), will still be part of the organization's priorities in the coming years, para sa #BatangMalaya!

Funding for Project ACE is provided by the United States Department of Labor under cooperative agreement number IL 34007-19-75-K. 100 percent of the total cost of the project in the Philippines is financed with federal funds.
